Established in 2006, RELA is a supported housing scheme based in Kent for young people between the ages of 16 to 21 who are about to leave the care system. Our supported accommodation is spread over North, West, Mid Kent and the Medway Towns and our main priority is to provide homely environments for our young people rather than “…yet another placement…” We believe that disadvantaged young people deserve a fresh start and RELA’s aim is to support them during the transition period from leaving care to eventually living independently.
RELA provides safe affordable homes for young men and women where they are able to thrive and overcome their personal difficulties and move on to a brighter future.
We provide a holistic approach to help young people acquire independent living skills while also helping them to tackle many difficulties they would otherwise have had to deal with alone.
We deliver our services to young people using core elements of the Quality Assessment Framework (QAF), as follows:
- Assessment and Support Planning
- Security, Health and Safety
- Safeguarding and Protection from Abuse
- Fair Access, Diversity and Inclusion
- Client Involvement and Empowerment
Continuous service improvement is embedded in RELA’s daily operations. This is reflected in each of our units which continue to evolve on the basis of the various needs of the young people that we look after. We have been praised on more than one occasion by practitioners as being proactive, responsive and exceeding client expectations. The young people are and always will remain our primary clients but we also recognise that the various teams that we interact with within each local authority are our secondary clients and no less important.
RELA prides itself on being able to tailor each support package to the individual needs of each client.
